For stores and record pools
Own the Set sends DJs to buy tracks on the store's own page. If you run a download store or a record pool, here's how it works with your catalogue, and how you can help it show your tracks accurately.
Who uses it
DJs who find their music on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services. Spotify’s terms rule out DJing with it in public, so before a set every track on a playlist has to be bought: the right mix, in a format a DJ can use. Own the Set works out where each one can be bought, and the DJ buys it from the store.
What a DJ sees
- A link to the track’s own page on your store, where they buy it as normal. Own the Set never hosts, streams, downloads or resells music.
- The version the playlist asks for, or one they’ve chosen: Extended and Original mixes over radio edits, and remixes by the right remixer.
- Formats a DJ can play: WAV, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC or MP3 320.
- Your store’s name and price on its own tab, with the other versions you sell folded beneath, each linking to your page to listen or buy.
How it reads your catalogue today
Only what your public pages and APIs allow. Own the Set follows robots.txt, limits how often it asks each store, keeps prices for 24 hours, and names itself in its user agent. It doesn’t get past bot checks. Prices are only checked for tracks a DJ asks about, a list at a time.
How you can help
Whichever is least work for you:
- A copy of a product feed you already make, for shopping ads or an affiliate network.
- An occasional catalogue export: artist, title, mix, ISRC, price, formats and link.
- Permission to read your public track pages at a rate you set.
- API access, if you offer it.
Record pools: a way to check whether you carry a track (by ISRC), or an export of a member’s downloads, would let members see what their subscription already covers. Own the Set already reads pool edits (intros, clean and dirty edits) as versions in their own right.
If you run an affiliate scheme, Own the Set can attribute the sales it sends you with your tracking.
