own the set

Privacy

Own the Set runs on your computer. Your playlists, your music library and your choices stay there.

The app

Everything you import, scan or decide is stored on your own computer: your playlists, the index of your music library, which matches you confirmed, and what you’ve bought. There’s no Own the Set account and no Own the Set server.

If you switch them on, the app reads the libraries of DJ software on your computer (such as Rekordbox’s export, Serato, Traktor or Lexicon) to see what you own. It only reads them, on your computer; nothing from them is sent anywhere.

To fill in track details and check prices, the app looks tracks up with these services. Each request carries your IP address and the track’s artist, title or ISRC:

  • Spotify’s public track pages (when you drag tracks in from Spotify; you can turn this off)
  • Deezer and MusicBrainz (track codes)
  • iTunes, Bandcamp, Volumo and Discogs (prices)
  • the European Central Bank (exchange rates)
  • GitHub, once when the app opens, to check for a new version

If you add a Volumo API token, it’s kept in your computer’s keychain and only sent to Volumo.

The app can save a list of tracks stores don’t have, for you to share if you choose. It holds track names and codes only, and nothing is sent automatically.

This application uses Discogs’ API but is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Discogs. ‘Discogs’ is a trademark of Zink Media, LLC.

This website

No analytics, no tracking and no cookies.

If you join the early access list, your email address is stored by our host, Netlify, and used only to tell you about Own the Set. Email support@owntheset.com to have it deleted at any time.

Children

New DJs include under-18s. The app collects nothing about the people using it, and every sharing option is off by default.
