Beta terms

The terms for using the Own the Set beta, in plain English.

The beta

The beta is free. It’s an early version: expect rough edges, and features that change between versions. Each beta version runs for 60 days, then asks you to download the latest.

While it’s in beta, a playlist holds up to 10 tracks, you can keep 3 playlists, and prices are checked for up to 30 tracks a day. These limits are counted on your computer.

Using it

You may use the beta yourself, on your own computers. Please don’t sell it, share copies of it, or present it as your own work.

Prices and stores

Own the Set doesn’t sell music. It shows prices that stores publish, and they can change or be out of date by the time you look, so check the price on the store’s own page before you buy. You buy from the store, on the store’s own terms.

Own the Set isn’t affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by the stores, record pools or other services it names.

Your data

Your playlists, your library index and your choices stay on your computer. The privacy page lists the services the app contacts and why.

No guarantees

The beta is provided as it is, without any promise that it’s free of mistakes. As far as the law allows, Own the Set isn’t responsible for losses from using it, such as buying the wrong version of a track. Nothing here affects your rights as a consumer.

Ending

You can stop using the beta at any time by deleting the app. On a Mac, its data is in ~/Library/Application Support/Own the Set. The beta may end, or change to a paid version, with notice to everyone on the early access list.
